Outreach is a lay ministry of St. Mark Church that aspires to serving Christ in the care of the needy. Specifically, Outreach maintains our community Food Pantry and assists those who find themselves in need.
Please contact the rectory for more information or to volunteer!
Offering masses and prayers for the intentions of our parishoners.
Remembering Shut-Ins and those in Nursing Homes at Easter and Christmas with cards and/or token gifts.
Distributing of Thanksgiving Baskets that have been provided by the Jamestown Rotary Club to those in need. The Rotary Club picks up the tab for these baskets and our food pantry may supplement these baskets when necessary. We are mostly just the facilitators of handing them out.
During Advent we ask parishioners to donate gift cards to our Giving Tree. These cards are then passed out to those in need to provide a Happy Christmas for their families.
Outreach also organizes projects during Lent and May to benefit off Island service organizations.
The Food Pantry is located in the Church basement and is open on Monday's and Friday's from 9am -11am
Walk -ins are welcome, no need to pre-register
The Food Pantry is maintained completely by volunteers with donations from our parishioners and local community

The Catholic Book Club seeks to enrich spiritual growth and faith of its members through sharing ideas and reflections about books. Reading selections chosen by the group are aimed at spiritual growth in faith. Some of the books are chosen from a national Catholic Book Suggestion List. Occasionally a guest speaker is invited to the discussion group. The Catholic Book Club is open to all members of the community. Meetings are held every other month at St. Mark Church. Come bring a friend!
The mission of the Prayer Group of St. Mark is to support the needs of parishioners, their families, the community, and the world at large through prayer.
The members of this vibrant Parish ministry meet on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM for one hour of prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church.
Please contact the rectory for more information.
Threads of Love is a ministry aimed at healing and binding together the hearts of parents at a time of uncertainty about their baby’s health or when they lose an infant.
Its mission is to show parents the love of Christ at a time when their pain is difficult to endure. A gift packet containing a handmade gown and receiving blanket, knitted cap, small doll and prayer card is given to the parents.
This group also makes internment gowns for infants. The goal is not to clothe babies but to use these clothes as an instrument for reaching parents at a time in their lives when they need reassurance that God is with them and that He is always faithful.
This special ministry was started in our Parish by Therese Poisson in 1996 and remains the only chapter in New England.
We currently serve the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Women & Infants’ Hospital in Providence and Metro West Medical Center in Framingham, Ma.
We welcome new members who can contribute their talents to this worthy mission. Please contact Therese Poisson at (401) 423-0872
The St. Mark Knights of Columbus Council #9197 is a fraternal group of of over 70 Catholic men that undertakes charitable service projects to benefit St. Mark and the community.
The Knights of Columbus meet the first Thursday of each month in the church hall to plan all activities. The group schedules meetings at which they host parish events or get together as a group with their families.
Some of the larger parish projects have included fundraisers to buy a new organ, new tabernacle, and refurbishment of "Our Lady of Fatima" statue and landscaping.
Some ongoing projects are hosting parish dinners, sacramental receptions, group yard cleaning projects, fundraisers and socials. The Knights handle food service at the Summer Festival. They also provide monetary support for various charities that include Big Brothers, the Mother of Life Center, Threads of Life, and St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The Family Ministry's mission is to draw children, moms and dads of our parish to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of Catholic Faith community. The ministry encompasses all of the interests and areas of parish family participation, i.e., religious formation classes, altar servers, music, sports, CYO and prayer sharing. The focus is to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of families.
A continuous Family Ministry needs strong, committed adult leaders. This is an area where your involvement can make a big difference. We encourage and welcome volunteers to work with our moms, dads, and children in many different capacities.
